My Statement on AI

The horrendous Ghibli filter has made me reflect on a lot of things, and I feel it's necessary to speak up on behalf of art and my fellow artists.
My Statement on AI:
Nothing I ever produce on my socials or in my books will ever be AI generated. Most of the graphics I make were produced on Canva with stock images and templates. The artwork for my covers and of my characters were commissioned by me from living, breathing, impossibly talented people.
My words are mine, but they didn't appear out of nowhere. They took time and effort to practice and hone as a skill. I have written stories since I could hold a pencil, scribbling only dialogue and drawing pictures to aid the story. I wrote fanfiction as a teenager on a notepad app on my laptop, littered with mistakes and typos. I read and I read and I read some more which gave me the tools to understand storytelling better. I'm currently studying Creative Writing to continue to sharpen my craft. I write now because I enjoy it, and I have worked hard on it all my life.
I am not the best writer in the world, I have never claimed to be, but I will never, ever seek the help of a machine to do my writing for me. My writing is mine, I adore the process of creating characters and stories. To claim AI makes writing accessible is an insult to those of us who have worked at this for so long. You don't wake up one morning with talent. You work hard for it. And all you are saying when you use AI to create what I refuse to call art is that you can't be bothered to put the time and effort in. Which is sad, but not surprising. But don't claim that you're an artist, because you're not.
The art included on the graphic below were done by the brilliantly talented @lariennne, @vanillaswimmer and @myweirsartstuff. Support beautiful talent like that found in the works of people like this, and not the lazy, cheap and soulless works done by those who can't be bothered to try.
