Happy New Year everyone!

I like to do my own reading roundups each year. Goodreads doesn't count audio books and manga, while Storygraph didn't have a couple of the books I read on their system. So, I just sort my own roundup up 😊

I read 32 books this year, a number I'm quite pleased with. I try not to be too statistic focused, but I will admit that my brain still focuses on the amount I've read more than I'd like. It's something I'm going to continue working on in 2026.

My favourite read of 2025 was My Policeman by Bethan Roberts. I bought this book on a whim off of Vinted, and I devoured the story in the space of two days. It was such a devastating story with complex characters and situations, I couldn't put it down. I haven't watched the movie yet, admittedly one of the reasons being I can't picture Harry Styles as the MMC. I'll try to get to it at some stage....Probably.

My least favourite read was Realm of Wonders by Alexandra Monir. I was very disappointed with this one because I enjoyed the first two books in The Queen's Council series, and Jasmine is my favourite Disney Princess. However, as I read this book I realised how bad a fit Jasmine was for this series' concept. She didn't want to rule, she wanted to be free of the confines of royalty. I was so upset by this books that I've yet to read the last book in the series about Aurora. The fact that Cinderella wasn't considered instead of Jasmine is wild to me.

My first read of the year was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, while my last read was The Underwater Menace by Nigel Robinson. My favourite discovery of the year was this amazing stash of original classic Doctor Who Target books in a charity shop in November.

Honourable mentions from the year include Torchwood: Outbreak, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption and Doctor Who: The Chimes of Midnight.

This past year has been amazing, and I'm really proud of what I've achieved. 2024 gave me a really hard knock, but in 2025 I proved that it's possible to come back stronger. I hope everyone gets everything they wish for and deserve in 2026!

Keep Creating,

Erin
